This is a modified version of a post that was originally published on my Patreon site, Lisa Ramsey Art on Patreon.
I went through my canvases and put together those where I started but never continued or finished.

First in line is this 10” x 20” canvas that I covered with graph paper. I had in mind to draw something, and maybe even use markers to color it in.
My Collected What-Nots and Have-Yous
In one of my little totes of “things” I’ve been collecting for future projects, I’ve collected some leaves. I’m sure most of them had color when I picked them up, but they’ve dried crisp to a post-Autumn brown.

I traced them onto the canvas in pencil, some with a generalization of their vein structure, then outline in ink.
Next, Texture
I am currently adding different textures to the leaf shapes. You see the black “sand” shapes in the Featured image, at the top of this post? That is my Liquitex Black Lava gel.

The large leaf in the middle of the canvas is covered in a soft fabric material that you find in electronics packaging, maybe…

The leaf bottom-right is Windsor & Newton Glass Beads gel, and I’ve got a Liquitex Modeling Paste on one other leaf.

I’m going to cover two leaves in each of the different textures, so I have to find two more textures around the house that I can play with.
Thinking About Colors, Too
I really like the brown of the leaves that I have placed on top, especially against the black of the lava gel. It inspires me to keep this piece in muted colors.
