About Time To Start Building a More Professional Look
I am in the process of having a Lisa Ramsey Art logo redesign by 99designs this week.
Among other updates I’ve been wanting to incorporate into my small business, a more professional logo has definitely been one of them.
The opportunity arose when I was browsing through eBay’s seller discount program offerings. I saw a couple of discounts for logo and branding websites. It’s a pricey piece to do considering it’s a small digital blip in the grand scheme of things, but the opportunity, discount, and reasonable price was not something I wanted to pass up.
An open door, you know?
Logo Redesign by 99designs
Through the designers website, 99designs.com, I work with different designers through a hosted “contest”. For $299, the Bronze Package, plus a small discount and free upgrade package provided by eBay, I have 7-8 designers. And they have designed well over 40 logos in all.
I am pleased; there are different minds coming up with their own ideas based upon some briefing questions, and a look through my website, art, and other sites of which I am a member, to get ideas of who I am and what I represent for myself and my small business.
There is one designer who “gets it” right from the start, really matching my tastes and the look-and-feel that is “me”. I am already so happy with the process of working with her, and I’m sure I am having her pull her hair out over my requests. It is quite fair to say that she has submitted at least 75% of the logos I’ve been provided.
Narrowing Down the Logo Designs
I’ve pared down the quantity, bit by bit, and am working with maybe 8-10 logo designs by three or four different designers on my 3rd day. I have one-and-a-half days to go before I am at the deadline to choose finalists.
99designs also provides a polling option (for free) to submit to friends and family via email, messaging, Facebook, and Twitter. I have had disqualifying rounds running on Facebook since yesterday (Wednesday) morning. I will likely run one more tomorrow (Friday) just to pare down favorites to a quantity of three logos. Based on that poll, and on my own favorite, I may have just the one finalist/winner.
Other Design Specifications
Besides logos, 99designs also handles social media backgrounds and headers, icons, business cards, stationery/letterheads, banners, website design, WordPress design, … you name it.
There are varying package types, and usually the higher cost of a package, the higher charging designers you get and more things included in the package.
My Favorite Designer
For the record, BlueNebula is my favorite designer from the designers I’ve worked with at 99designs. I don’t want to end this post without giving you her nickname.
I believe you can even request a designer by pseudonym. But, each person is suited differently. However, she has been amazing to work with, for me.
