Communication and Patience

The biggest hurdle for me, right now (as I stand in the kitchen after throwing away a lot of very expired food) is moving into a house with our things with someone else’s things already in place.

We will be living in this house with my mother for many years. Rather, we will have her in our care for the rest of her life. But I still would like to have use of my things that have made a home for me just a week ago. I feel that I’m probably going to have to get rid of some of them for “space”-sake.

On the other side, I’m sure Mom is feeling intruded upon. She has been living “alone” since Pa passed away last year, and had been mostly independent. However, her health has been in decline around the same time Pa started getting sick. As of now, she needs minimal care.

Time. In time, we will see. Just need to take it day by day, and keep in mind the bigger picture.

This is definitely going to be a challenge for all of us. But we will get through. Myke and I have survived much worse; we have come out stronger for it. Mom is pretty tough, too.

We will get through.

Communication and patience are the two most important qualities we need to keep close to our hearts, always.

Good luck to us.

Thank you for reading.
