Today’s post is a story behind an image I saw in the grass back home in Florida.
I often see patterns in the things around me. In the grass, in stains upon the sidewalk, the bark of a tree, tiles, shadows, towels…
The image in the header (and also shown at the end of this post) is the full color replication of the shapes I saw in the shadows of grass just outside of our apartment in Florida. The shape of the 3-legged pot and its five big, round flowers. I added the greenery to create interest and more texture.
What does this image mean to me?
That’s an interesting question. I never thought about it prior to this.
The three legs of the pot indicate the support system of the entire collection of pot and flowers. These represent(ed) the three beings in our household at that time: Myke, Bella, and myself.
The pot itself is the unisence (not a real word, but it has been used/abused to mean the sense of unity) of our household. The oneness of our little family unit.
The center of our universe sprouts five. Those five things are love, support, compassion, friendship, and care. These are the five things that are being rebuilt in our relationship with each other since seeing the shape in the shadowed grass.
I may not have known it then, but enough time has passed that I can now look back and see that specific time as the turning point from the addiction/codependency cycles we were going through to the close family unit the three of us have since become.
Thank you for reading.
