Favorites – Colors

I have a few favorite things I would like to share with you. Favorite colors, favorite artists, styles of art, mediums, and so on.

Today I am going to share my favorite colors, and why.

Let’s start with brown.

Brown.

When people ask my favorite color, I mentally go through the color wheel and briefly think about which color may be my favorite that day. Maybe I worked on a recent project and was greatly inspired by the colors I chose there, or maybe I have an automatic favorite that most people also like.

But my true favorite color isn’t even on most color wheels.

I love the color brown because it reminds me of earth. Tree trunks, fresh rich dirt, … It can be a soft muted brown or a dark chocolate color, or a reddish tinged brown. My base color for my wedding was brown. So versatile and comforting.

Yellow.

Yellow is a close second to brown. Not the bright neon version, or anything too cool. A rich and warm, earthy yellow. Again, back to earth. Indian Yellow – my favorite yellow.

Purple.

I’ve gone between purple and green for another moody favorite color, but today I am choosing purple for my third favorite color. I love the way a deep purple makes me feel. Or pairing purple and yellow – the best color wheel opposites I can think of.

What are your favorite colors? Why?
